The Alliance for the Mentally Ill of R.O.C.,Taiwan(TAMI) is a non-government ,nonprofit, grassroots, self-help organization of consumers, families, and friends of people with mental illnesses.
Founded in 1997, TAMI currently has 21 group members from local organizations of 20 counties in Taiwan with more than 3,000 members who have made great effort to service people with severe mental illnesses, working on the national and local levels in support and advocacy of mental health, TAMI provides education on mental disorders, supports for research, and advocates for adequate health insurance, housing, rehabilitation in community ,promoting jobs training programs for people with serious psychiatric illnesses.
Consumers, family members, friends, and the public are encouraged to call the TAMI Line for information and referral to the affiliate group in their area. The TAMI Line is staffed by social workers, Monday through Friday, 09:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (Taiwan time) and has a web side on Internet（http://health.icareasia.com.tw/sick/tami）. The Line number is 886-2-27477605 and has a 24-hour, 7-day-a-week fax line,886-2-27482830.
TAMI has emphasized on support to persons with serious brain disorders and their families; advocacy for nondiscriminatory and equitable policies and treatments for brain disorders; also education to eliminate the pervasive stigma surrounding severe mental illness.
